Professor David Schmitt – an American psychologist from Bradley University in Illinois conducted very interesting research. His work aimed to examine promiscuity and adherence to moral norms and fidelity among representatives of different nationalities. His team asked over 14,000 people from 48 countries to fill out a special questionnaire, which included questions about the number of partners, one-night stands and attitudes towards casual sex. The results of the study were quite surprising and did not entirely match common stereotypes. As a result, a list of countries with the greatest sexual freedom was created, so let's see the effects.
1. Great Britain
2. Germany
3. Netherlands
4. Czech Republic
5. Australia
6. USA
7. France
8. Turkey
9. Mexico
10. Canada
11. Italy
12. Poland
13. Spain
14. Greece
15. Portugal
Freedom may seem like a desirable trait in a relationship, but knowing that there is a 76% chance that one partner will cheat can certainly dampen any sense of joy.
According to another American psychologist David Buss and his research, infidelity statistics indicate that between 30-50% of men and 20-40% of women engage in extramarital affairs. These stark statistics are compounded by the fact that about 10% of children are not biologically related to their alleged fathers. Similar results have been reported in studies conducted throughout Europe.
It is important to acknowledge that infidelity can have devastating consequences on a relationship, including emotional trauma, loss of trust, and may lead to divorce. Therefore, it is important for couples to prioritize open communication, mutual respect, and a commitment to fidelity in order to maintain a healthy and fulfilling relationship.
Poland may not rank high in statistics, but nearly 30% of Poles admit to infidelity. However, only 4% of Polish women are aware that they have been cheated on. Maybe they are simply ashamed to admit it?
Nevertheless, infidelity is the cause of a quarter of all divorces, and women file for divorce in 75% of cases. Every fourth Pole flirts while in a stable relationship, and 10% of these flirtations end in bed.
We find the most lovers at work, so that's where most romances start - 39%. Then among friends - about 29%. Surprisingly, only about 10% of romances start at school (university), while 9% take place in bars, pubs, restaurants, discos or clubs. Holiday romances make up only about 7%, and internet romances 6%.
The only consolation may be that 85% of cheaters see their affair as a fleeting fling.
Studies, statistics, percentages, analyses, forecasts… All written on countless sheets of paper, and the conclusion seems simple: betrayal thrives – it knows no boundaries, it does not care about skin color, it is indifferent to language. It is a universal force that tempts us all, regardless of circumstances.

Regardless of the context, the impact of betrayal can be devastating, leaving a trail of broken trust and fractured relationships.
